WHAT THE POLICIES SAY

PlayStation is Sony Interactive Entertainment's console, network (PSN), and app ecosystem, operated by Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC and affiliated studios under publicly traded parent Sony Group Corporation. SIE's own privacy policy discloses collection of device/network identifiers, account and gameplay activity, and use of cookies, web beacons and tracking pixels for marketing, while stating it does "not and will not accept money in exchange for sharing PI" and instead shares information with Sony Group entities and named categories of partners. Ownership is fully traceable through Sony Group Corp's SEC 20-F filings, which name Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC, Inc., and Europe Ltd. as the operating subsidiaries. PlayStation's track record includes a serious, well-documented incident: the UK Information Commissioner's Office fined Sony Computer Entertainment Europe £250,000 in January 2013 for the April 2011 PlayStation Network breach, in which an attacker accessed customers' names, addresses, email addresses, dates of birth and account passwords; Sony's current SEC filings still acknowledge it "has previously been the subject of cyberattacks."
