WHAT THE POLICIES SAY

Noom is a weight-loss and behavior-change app (Noom Weight) that has expanded into telehealth, including a GLP-1/weight-management prescribing service (Noom Med), run by Noom, Inc., a privately held Delaware corporation founded by Saeju Jeong and Artem Petakov. Noom's own Apple App Store privacy label discloses an unusually broad set of data categories linked to a user's identity -- including Health & Fitness, Financial Info, Location, and Sensitive Info -- and separately discloses that Purchases, Financial Info, Location, Identifiers, and Sensitive Info may be used to track users across other companies' apps and websites. Noom's general Privacy Policy carries a CCPA notice stating the website may sell sensitive personal data, while a separate, narrower Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice commits that Noom does not sell or share Consumer Health Data without consent. Noom, Inc. (CIK 0001595910) is confirmed in SEC EDGAR as a Delaware corporation that filed Regulation D exempt-securities notices in 2014 and 2015; no full investor or parent-company chain is published. No FTC or state privacy enforcement action against Noom was found in this research; a widely reported 2022 class-action settlement (reported at $56-62M) over automatic-renewal and cancellation practices is a billing/consumer-protection matter, not a privacy finding, and no primary court or company source for it could be fetched (Noom's own settlement FAQ page returned 404 and the Wayback Machine was unavailable during this research), so it is noted here but not scored as a track-record incident.

Noom's HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (Last Updated December 29, 2025) states that protected health information -- collected for Noom's telehealth services including Noom Med (GLP-1/weight-management prescribing) -- may be used and disclosed by 'Noom, Inc. and its affiliates' and others outside Noom involved in a patient's care, describing how PHI is used for treatment, payment, and health care operations under HIPAA, a distinct and more sensitive data-collection regime layered on top of the consumer app.

OWNERSHIP TRANSPARENCY
SEC EDGAR's company search independently confirms 'NOOM, INC.' under CIK #0001595910 as a company located in New York and incorporated in Delaware, with two Form D notices of exempt securities offerings on file (filed 2014-01-06 and 2015-01-02) -- registry confirmation of the corporate entity separate from Noom's own self-reported pages, though it does not disclose current investors or a parent-company chain.

Noom's Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice (Updated August 8, 2024) states Noom does not sell or share Consumer Health Data -- the narrower category defined under state Consumer Health Data laws -- without the user's consent, a carve-out promise distinct from the broader CCPA sensitive-personal-data sale notice in Noom's general privacy policy.

[2024-10-01] · SHARING
Noom's Privacy Policy carries a CCPA-required notice stating the website may sell users' sensitive personal data and describes a right to opt out of the 'sale' or 'sharing' of personal information -- an affirmative, self-declared sale/share disclosure rather than a denial.

[2025-12-29] · TRACK RECORD
Noom's HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices states Noom is required to notify affected individuals following a breach of unsecured health information -- a standing legal obligation documented in Noom's own notice, though it is not evidence of any actual incident or of an independent audit.
