WHAT THE POLICIES SAY

Grindr is an LGBTQ+ dating and social networking app operated by publicly traded Grindr Inc. (NYSE: GRND). Grindr's own privacy policy discloses that users may choose to share sensitive fields including HIV status and vaccination status, and states these are shared with the Grindr Community and, in limited form, with necessary service providers; the same policy offers an opt-out (not opt-in) for the 'sale'/sharing of Personal Information with its Ad/Marketing Partners for behavioral advertising. Apple's App Store privacy label confirms Location, Identifiers, and Usage Data are used to track users across other companies' apps, and that Health & Fitness data is linked to identity. Grindr's own 2025 Form 10-K discloses that Norway's Data Protection Authority fined Grindr LLC for unlawfully disclosing personal data, including special-category data, to third-party advertisers without a valid legal basis — a decision upheld on final appeal in October 2025 — and in 2018 Grindr publicly confirmed (per contemporaneous press coverage) that it had shared users' HIV status and last-tested date with analytics vendors Apptimize and Localytics before removing the practice. Grindr's 2025 10-K also discloses that a single individual, Mr. Zage, now holds beneficial ownership of more than 50% of outstanding common stock.

SHARING
Grindr's Apple App Store privacy label independently confirms a 'Third-Party Advertising' purpose that links coarse location, device ID, and advertising data to the user's identity for use by third parties.

[2024-12-23] · SHARING
Grindr's privacy policy states users can opt out of the sharing of Personal Information with its Ad/Marketing Partners for behavioral advertising, framing this flow as what some jurisdictions would term a 'sale' of Personal Information — an opt-out default rather than the data flow not occurring at all. Contemporaneous reporting on Grindr's 2018 confirmation that it had shared users' HIV status and last-tested date with analytics vendors Apptimize and Localytics quotes Grindr's own emailed statement that, after the feature testing concluded, HIV-status data was removed from Apptimize and its removal from Localytics was being discussed.
