Google Fi Wireless is an MVNO operated by Google LLC (a wholly-owned Alphabet Inc. subsidiary) that carries traffic over T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular's networks. The Google Fi Privacy Notice supplements the general Google Privacy Policy and discloses collection of actual location data, Wi-Fi network credentials, call/text/data usage, device performance data, and marketing information purchased from outside data brokers to evaluate Pay Monthly Device Plan applicants. Fi data is shared with Google LLC affiliates for billing, fraud protection, and account services, and CPNI marketing use requires an opt-in (customers are opted out by default). The broader Google Privacy Policy states Google does not share personally-identifying information with advertisers without consent and layers Fi's carrier-level data (phone number, carrier name) into the same account-linked ad-personalization system used across Google services. In January 2023, Google Fi disclosed that a third-party support system tied to its network partner was breached, exposing a limited set of customer data (phone numbers, account status, SIM serial numbers, plan details) but not names, SSNs, passwords, or payment data.

The Google Fi Privacy Notice states that Google Fi collects Network and Device Information including actual location data whenever the device is turned on or the service is used, current activity such as driving/running/walking, Wi-Fi network usage and the credentials used to connect to Wi-Fi networks, and device performance information such as dropped calls and battery usage; it separately states Fi obtains and uses commercially available demographic, geographic, or interest information about users from outside sources for marketing purposes, and may obtain credit information about Pay Monthly Device Plan applicants from a credit bureau or other data broker.
Alphabet Inc.'s Form 10-K for fiscal year 2025, filed with the SEC on February 5, 2026, identifies Alphabet as a Delaware-incorporated public company headquartered in Mountain View, California, with Class A common stock (GOOGL) and Class C capital stock (GOOG) listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market; Google LLC, which operates Google Fi, is a wholly-owned Alphabet subsidiary.
The Google Fi Privacy Notice states that Fi shares information with its affiliates, including Google LLC, to provide the services, bill customers, troubleshoot issues, verify identity, and protect against fraud; that outside the notice's carve-outs it will only share personal information with other companies in limited listed circumstances such as Pay Monthly Device Plan credit checks; and that CPNI may be used for cross-marketing only if the customer opts in, with customers opted out by default.
The Google Privacy Policy states that Google does not share personal information with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of Google except in listed circumstances such as with consent, and specifically that it does not share information that personally identifies a user, such as name or email, with advertisers unless the user asks it to.
TechCrunch reported that Google Fi confirmed a data breach in an email sent to customers on January 30, 2023, stating that its primary network provider had informed Google of suspicious activity involving a third-party customer support system containing a limited amount of Google Fi customer data, including phone numbers, account status, and SIM card serial numbers, but that names, Social Security numbers, payment card data, passwords, PINs, and message/call content were not accessed, and that there was no access to Google's own systems.
The Google Fi Privacy Notice states that when a customer browses the internet or uses mobile applications, the Mobile Directory Number assigned to their device and/or other device-specific information may be transmitted over the internet, and that it is possible for third parties to use this information to identify the device.
The Google Privacy Policy (effective May 26, 2026), which governs all Google services including Google Fi, states that depending on settings Google may show personalized ads based on a user's interests and activity across Google services, and that it collects mobile network information including carrier name and phone number as part of general device/app data collection.
