WHAT THE POLICIES SAY

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) is a publicly traded automaker whose connected vehicles are enrolled in the OnStar telematics service, including the OnStar Smart Driver feature. GM's own U.S. Consumer Privacy Statement discloses collection of Precise Geolocation and Driver Behavior Information from OnStar-enrolled vehicles, exterior camera/sensor data, and AI-assistant interaction data, and discloses that some categories of data may be disclosed to third-party advertising networks, financial institutions, and (with consent) insurance affiliates in ways that "may qualify as 'sales' under some state laws." In January 2025 the FTC announced a proposed settlement order alleging GM and OnStar sold customers' precise geolocation and driving-behavior data, collected as often as every three seconds, to consumer reporting agencies without adequate notice or consent, banning such disclosures for five years. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton separately sued GM in August 2024 alleging unlawful collection and sale of over 1.5 million Texans' driving data to insurance companies via a deceptive OnStar Smart Driver enrollment process. GM's own myChevrolet companion app self-declares a "Data Used to Track You" category on its Apple App Store privacy label. Ownership is fully traceable through GM's own SEC filings as a single NYSE-listed public company.
